for thine is the kingdom, for thine …

T H E  H O L L O W  M E N

A penny for the Old Guy

WE are the hollow men

We are the stuffed men

Leaning together

Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!

Our dried voices, when

We whisper together

Are quiet and meaningless

As wind in dry grass

Or rats’ feet over broken glass

In our dry cellar

Shape without form, shade without colour,

Paralysed force, gesture without motion;

Those who have crossed

With direct eyes, to death’s other Kingdom

Remember us if at all not as lost

Violent souls, but only

As the hollow men

The stuffed men,

II

Eyes I dare not meet in dreams

In death’s dream kingdom

These do not appear:

There, the eyes are

Sunlight on a broken column

There, is a tree swinging*

And voices are

In the wind’s singing

More distant and more solemn

Than a fading star.

Let me be no nearer

In death’s dream kingdom

Let me also wear

Such deliberate disguises

Rat’s coat, crowskin, crossed staves

In a field

Behaving as the wind behaves

No nearer

Not that final meeting

In the twilight kingdom

III

This is the dead land

This is cactus land

Here the stone images

Are raised, here they receive

The supplication of a dead man’s hand

Under the twinkle of a fading star.

Is it like this

In death’s other kingdom

Waking alone

At the hour when we are

Trembling with tenderness

Lips that would kiss

Form prayers to broken stone.

IV

The eyes are not here

There are no eyes here

In this valley of dying stars

In this hollow valley

This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms

In this last of meeting places

We grope together

And avoid speech

Gathered on this beach of the tumid river

Sightless, unless

The eyes reappear

As the perpetual star

Multifoliate rose

Of death’s twilight kingdom

The hope only

Of empty men.

Here we go round the prickly pear

Prickly pear prickly pear

Here we go round the prickly pear

At five o’clock in the morning.

Between the idea

And the reality

Between the motion

And the act

Falls the Shadow

For Thine is the Kingdom

Between the conception

And the creation

Between the emotion

And the response

Falls the Shadow

Life is very long

Between the desire

And the spasm

Between the potency

And the existence

Between the essence

And the descent

Falls the Shadow

For Thine is the Kingdom

For Thine is

Life is

For Thine is the

This is the way the world ends

This is the way the world ends

This is the way the world ends

Not with a bang but a whimper.

Welcome To The Great Big World, Madeleine (A Gidgie Song and Saga)

Why in the world is it so difficult to share a little music with the internets? In the amount of time it took me to sit and record the song (which I was making up as I went along) I think I could have heated up a Hotpocket.

In the amount of time it took me to transfer the song off of my Blackberry, to my computer, convert the file for upload, attempt to upload and successfully upload the song to share, I could have made a home-made beef stew from scratch.

That’s right, 3 minutes versus 36 hours.

…a recording off my blackberry as I was making up a little song for my dear friend and her beautiful, new, baby girl.

Welcome to the great big world, Madeleine Desmichelle!

Et ma cherie, il y a beaucoup d’amore dans tes aimes et ta familie.

I mean really, why does it have to be so difficult to share a little music with you all?

Anecdote: What’s really awesome about #DJBreitbart — When I first started using Twitter, AB and I would get into late night ‘YouTube Music Video Rallies.’ He’d send me these AWFUL 80s-bad-hair-rock-bands.

I’d slam him back with stuff like Randy Newman’s POLITICAL SCIENCE or Ani DiFranco’s UNTOUCHABLE FACE. The BFG would eventually shuffle by and insist I proxy tweet, so, hence, IF I HAD A HAMMER sung by Telly and Shatner’s ROCKETMAN got thrown into the mix. Talk about a wack Playlist.

And just like the TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART (THE LITERAL VERSION) is gone, so is he. Despite where your opinions are about Andrew’s work, I knew him as a friend, a very good friend, and I will miss the laughter so much.

***Hope you are rockin’ it up there with the Snow-man and getting a kick out of what the folks are doing to keep it rockin’ over here for ya’.***

That Is Our Lady

she is in the shadows that nobody sees

beneath the eyesight and in a corner in home long forgotten

i would not say that she wanders

she is worth enough despite the guarantee for payoff

she stays where it is warmer

whether it be her mind or the draft in the corner

and she will forgive, since forgiveness lives infinitely inside her

no regret

as the shadows cross her familiar face

and how we forget

in shadow frame the time away

and try to recognize the day

light breaks through the window

home can be so little

bits and pieces of the string

tied by the knots of fingers

holding on to something

I don’t know much about this new technology and whether it is good or bad or indicative of the renaissance or the apocalypse, BUT, I do know how it has suddenly brought so many inspirational people out from the ether. So, thanks internet. Fight for your right to free speech by supporting creator owned content. Otherwise, we’ll have to deal with fees and free speech will be a right paid for, not an inalienable one. Worse, delegated to and by commercial entities. I like you all, so, let’s not allow for this to go away. I like learning.

MY BRAIN!
